It's good to have goals. Why get out of bed otherwise? They give you a positive outlook on the future and make you feel that what you're doing today, right now, is meaningful. Lots of people avoid goal setting though. Too much pressure, fear of failure, etc.
I read this post about goal setting being a waste of time. The author prefers describing his definite major purpose, or DMP. I think his DMP is the same thing as goals, just stated differently. His version is more inspiring and more motivating. Nothing wrong with that.
So, if you avoid goal setting, see if you can think of a different way to describe what the goals mean. Focus on what you want in your life this year, how you want to feel and what will make you want to jump out of bed to accomplish. That's what goals are for.
What do you think? Yea or nay?
